Maud and Ian chose The Isis Farmhouse, a relaxed riverside wedding venue in Oxford, for their small, intimate celebration. With about 35 guests, a big garden to mingle in, and a pub atmosphere that felt informal yet special, it was the perfect backdrop for a day full of personality, laughter, and their shared passions.

A Ceremony Full of Personal Touches
From the very start, their wedding reflected exactly who they are. They walked down the aisle to the Batman theme tune, a nod to their love of superheroes, and held a handfasting ceremony where Maud’s mum and Ian’s mum wrapped vintage ribbons belonging to their ancestors around their wrists. Their celebrant translated the ceremony into French for Maud’s family, providing booklets and reading sections in both languages. Personal vows, temporary tattoos, and a truly bespoke approach meant every moment felt uniquely theirs.

DIY Details and Celestial-Themed Décor
Maud and Ian’s day was full of creative DIY touches. Paper stars, wooden moons, bunting, and table toys were all carefully sourced or crafted to match their celestial and superhero theme. The couple even made their own bouquets with lavender from their garden, while Maud incorporated elements of her grandmother’s, mother’s, and sister’s wedding dresses into her own stunning design. Purple and navy were the dominant colours, seen throughout their outfits, décor, and small details that tied the day together beautifully.

Wedding Breakfast at The Isis Farmhouse
The Isis Farmhouse makes small weddings feel effortlessly relaxed. Guests enjoyed mingling in the garden, sipping drinks, and soaking up the riverside atmosphere. The vegetarian menu kept the day sustainable, delicious, and perfect for their 35 guests. Later, Ian surprised everyone with live music performances, playing Bowie, Joy Division, and Florence + the Machine, all of which kept the energy joyful and personal.
