Places to Eat in Oxford Before Your Wedding

If you’re looking for quirky places to eat in Oxford before your wedding, or you want a list to share with close friends and family arriving early, here are some of my absolute favourite spots. These places are relaxed, full of personality, and perfect for gathering your favourite people before the big day.

IN THE CITY

Quod Restaurant & Bar

A proper Oxford classic on the High Street. Big glass frontage, buzzy atmosphere, consistently good food, and a courtyard that feels like a little pocket of Europe. Perfect for a pre-wedding dinner with parents or a stylish lunch with your closest people.

The Handle Bar

This is one of my go-to places in Oxford. The team cares a lot about sustainability and organic produce, and the whole place has a warm, easygoing vibe. It’s also available for private hire if you want a more intimate gathering.

Cherwell Boathouse

If you want riverside dining, this is the place. Set in a Victorian boathouse, the food is amazing, and you can even hire a punt next door. It’s a classic Oxford experience.

QUIRKY PLACES TO EAT IN OXFORDSHIRE

EAST OXFORD

Oli’s Thai

Oli’s Thai is small, mighty and loved by locals because the food is outstanding. If you’re want to book this intimate restaurant you’ll need to book at least 3 months in advance.

Arbequina

Set in a converted chemist, Arbequina offers some of the best tapas in Oxford. It’s another great takeaway option if you’re hosting people at home before the wedding.

Kazbar

Kazbar serves Spanish and Moroccan dishes in a laid-back space filled with colourful tiles and lanterns. The sharing plates are perfect for groups, and the cocktails are excellent.

The Coconut Tree

If you want something lively, colourful and full of flavour, The Coconut Tree serves Sri Lankan street food that absolutely slaps. Great for groups, great for sharing plates, and great if you want something fun and informal the night before the big day.

PLACES TO EAT IN OXFORD

OUT OF THE CITY

The Perch, Binsey

One of Oxford’s most loved pubs. Think thatched roof, country-garden seating, leafy walks along the river, and really, really good food. It’s perfect if your guests want a proper Oxford-shire pub without trekking out into the sticks. Magical on a summer evening.

Le Manoir

If you’re going all-out, Le Manoir is the showstopper. Set in the Oxfordshire countryside, the tasting menus are delicate, seasonal and very special. You can even get legally married in one of the rooms here, so if your pre-wedding meal turns into something bigger, you’re all set.
