5 TIPS ON EMBRACING RAIN ON YOUR WEDDING DAY

We live in the UK, so even in the height of summer there’s always a real chance of rain on your wedding day. No one dreams of rain, and no one plans for it, but if it does happen, it helps to prepare yourself both emotionally and practically.

1. PLAN FOR RAIN EMOTIONALLY

Hope for the best weather, but prepare yourself for the worst.
If you’re planning an outdoor ceremony or a festival-style wedding, decide now what your Plan B will look like. If the weather does turn, you won’t want negative thoughts taking over your morning. When you already know your backup option, you’ll feel calmer and more in control.

2. PLAN FOR RAIN PRACTICALLY

People don’t like getting wet. Simple.
Think about how you’ll keep everyone covered, whether that’s a marquee, a stretch tent, umbrellas or a nearby indoor space. As long as your guests stay dry, the day will still feel magical.

3. GET SOME BROLLIES

If the forecast looks grey, gather some umbrellas. Ask your venue if they have any you can borrow.
Choose one for yourself that you wouldn’t mind appearing in photographs. Bright umbrellas look great, but remember they can reflect colour onto your face. Neutral tones or clear brollies work brilliantly.

4. GET SOME WEDDING WELLIES

Have a pair of wellies on standby.
Go fun and stylish, match them to your outfit, or just bring your trusty old pair. My bridesmaids bought me gold wellies for my own wedding and they were perfect when I needed them.

5. YOUR ATTITUDE WILL SET THE TONE

You can’t control the weather, but you can control how you respond to it.
Your guests will follow your lead. If you embrace the rain, splash through puddles, and smile through it all, they’ll do the same. A joyful attitude transforms a wet day into something unforgettable.

For my own festival wedding I didn’t want a Plan B. Unless it was torrential, I planned to walk down that field no matter what. We still had plenty of shelter nearby, but I wanted the freedom to enjoy the day exactly as it came.

To Conclude

Follow these tips and you won’t panic if the rain appears.
Your wedding will be amazing whatever the weather. Stay flexible, flow with the day, and embrace every moment.
